The fine print
- What this compares. Your current average power bill of $102 a month against your solar payment of $127.57 a month, over 25 years. Utility escalated at 23% next year, then 13.5% per year through year 5 and 7% per year after that, solar at 2.99% per year.
- Still connected to the grid. You are still connected to the utility grid and would be expected to pay a small fixed monthly rate, considered the standard connection fee.
- Ameren Illinois rates are moving. Ameren is raising rates about 23% this year. Residential rates are already up roughly 94% since 2021, from about 8 cents to 15.5 cents per kWh, and the supply portion alone went from 8.769 cents to about 11 cents this June. The drivers are ICC approved delivery increases and a sharp rise in regional capacity prices. Past increases do not guarantee future ones.
